Neck Pain Responds Positively To Strengthening Exercise

Orlando, FL– May 16, 2016 – There are several potential contributing factors to the development of neck pain, and one is aging. The aging process has long been associated with a variety of medical conditions including arthritis. There are remedies available for neck pain, and one doesn’t even cost a penny.

Neck pain responds positively to strengthening exercises. Stretching is widely believed to be the ultimate solution for this type of pain. Individuals who suffer from neck pain are advised to try strengthening exercise as it is more likely to provide significant pain relief.

Aging causes cervical vertebrae degeneration. This is believed to result from decades of holding the head, which is about 8 to 10 pounds or equivalent to a bowling ball.

There are individuals with degenerating vertebrae who also suffer from cervical arthritis. This develops when there is damage in the joints between the cervical vertebrae. The damage may be due to injury of erosion linked with arthritis.

Individuals who suffer from neck arthritis typically experience muscle weakness, numbness, headaches, stiffness, and loss of balance.

The good news is that, according to researchers, simple exercises can offer significant relief regardless of the reason causing the pain.

In a controlled, randomized trial conducted at Punkaharju Rehabilitation Center in Finland, the researchers tried to determine whether strength training in the neck is effective compared with stretching or no exercise at all.
The participants were 180 women who were ages between 25 to 53 years. They were engaged in office work and suffered chronic neck pain.

It was found that three quarters of the participants who engaged in strength-training exercises achieved considerable or complete pain relief.

A year after the study, the improvement in neck strength achieved by the participants still remained. There was also an improvement in their ability to look down, up, and sideways of 10 times better than those in the control group.
Neck pain can be extremely troublesome condition. There are those who can’t concentrate on doing their daily routines or job because of the condition. There are actually pain medications available that are widely used by individuals who suffer from pain.

Many arthritis sufferers and even athletes rely on pain relief medications to achieve pain relief. Pain relief drugs may also be an option for individuals who suffer from neck pain. Unfortunately, these pharmaceutical drugs can potentially cause side effects.

The good news is that there are safer alternatives such as glucosamine supplements. Glucosamine is widely used by athletes and individuals with arthritis (
