Greeting Cards Retailer in Hanover VA Promotes Environmentally Friendly Initiatives

July 15, 2015 (Hanover, Virginia)

That Little Spot of Red, an independent greeting cards retailer, has made a statement for the environment by enacting a policy of offering products that are more ecologically responsible and business practices that are conscious of our carbon footprint. By making an effort to offer stationery, greeting cards and special occasion invitations that are made of recycled materials, this small company is making a huge statement.

“We feel that ours is a business of caring,” explained owner, Laura Lichiello. “That Little Spot of Red stands for showing levels of dedication and commitment and, just like the customers we serve, we are more about showing rather than telling. Our environmentally aware initiatives and business practices are just one way that we demonstrate our level of caring for our local—and global—community.”

Nicknamed “A small store with a big heart”, That Little Spot of Red really lives up to its motto. In the company’s view, being environmentally responsible is a duty that each community member has to make as a measure of caring for each other.

While many companies that retail paper products have moved to stocking recycled products, That Little Spot of Red has gone a step farther by recycling to reduce the waste their store produces and looking for greeting cards suppliers that offer either sustainably made paper products or entirely recycled base materials. Other criteria that are used include soy based inks, reusing water and using alternative energy sources, such as wind or solar-generated electricity to manufacture their products.

When asked whether or not these environmentally sound initiatives impact her business, Laura Lichiello said, “Of course; however, we believe that the impact is a positive one. By being more socially aware and responsible for our neighbors in Hanover, Virginia, our business promotes positive feelings and worthy causes all in one. Our customers can feel good about their purchases since our greeting cards and other paper products are always high quality and are derived from sustainable sources.”

Besides stocking paper products, such as custom event invitations, stationery and greeting cards, That Little Spot of Red also carries various gift items, wrapping paper, photo albums, personal journals and specialty books suited for any occasion.

“One of the biggest ideas that surrounds That Little Spot of Red is bringing everything you need together to make a person’s day. Whether you’re shopping for a birthday celebration, ordering custom wedding or graduation invitations or looking for the perfect words to congratulate that special someone in your life, you’ll be sure to find all that and more at our store.”
