Outskirts Press Announces the Release of Past Midnight, a New Book for Those Dealing with Bereavement
The birth of a perfect son; the death of an addicted one…
July 11, 2015 – Denver, CO, and Little Rock, AR – Author Catherine King is an ordained minister with a message for those in the throes of grief. Her new book, Past Midnight, published by Outskirts Press, offers hope and a pathway toward peace, grace, and healing.
The tragedy of a loved one’s death ushers in both grief and mourning. These emotions carry added stress when the death is caused by addiction, and grief can quickly lead to despair. Grief should act as a temporary buffer for pain and sorrow, but the scriptures in Past Midnight point out how Christianity can turn this temporary buffer into joy.
Catherine King describes the pain and guilt she felt at the loss of her son and how she put her faith in God to work. The Christian community helped her face her failures as a parent, and reading scriptures kept her faith alive.
“Faith has the power of freedom and uses tribulation, perseverance, and character as stepping stones to hope,” she says. “In turn, faith, hope, and love put grief aside and send joy in its place.”
With courage, honesty, and sometimes humor, the author describes how her life was enriched by the joy that followed her tragedy, and she shares her story in the hopes that it will help someone else who is dealing with bereavement—especially the loss of a loved one who suffered from addiction.
Past Midnight is available online through Outskirts Press at www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore.
