TheDinoSource Fights Alzheimer's With An Indiegogo Campaign
TheDinoSource is a unique type of software that detects changes in language use patterns that may signal the early onset of dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Now, the creator of this software has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds in order to complete development and distribute this software everywhere it is needed.
Named for the creator's grandfather who succumbed to Alzheimer's, the software offers a way to detect linguistic changes that can be associated with the onset of dementia. According to the creator, "We are developing software that is able to deliver an early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, by identifying which switches in a person's mind fail before others and do so with a higher degree of frequency. Given a preset switchboard, as the grammar of a language is known, the brain's deterioration can be identified and tracked through the close study of these linguistic switches. For example, a person may unknowingly begin referring to a certain item by the class it belongs to, rather than the name of the object itself. These types of recurring mistakes in the word retrieval process may go unnoticed, but through our research, may be the key to the early detection of a loved one's Alzheimer's disease . With your help, we can build the infrastructure needed to be able to pinpoint the elements that will help us provide you with an early diagnosis."
As seen at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fight-alzheimer-s-disease-with-thedinosource-com#/ , the Indiegogo campaign offers pledge levels ranging from $10 to $3,000, with rewards including water bottles, tote bags, t-shirts and other items. For more information on individual rewards associated with specific pledge levels, visit the Indiegogo page.
