One of the most common myths about dental health is that sugary foods are the main culprit behind tooth decay, Dr. Rich edifies that this is however only half of the story because tooth decay is actually caused by acid and also the failure to keep teeth and gums clean. The doctor suggests that to curb tooth decay people much brush their teeth regular. Another oral hygiene tips that the doctor busts is brushing teeth directly after a meal. Dr. Rick informs that by brushing right after a meal, people are damaging the weaken enamel and scrubbing in the acid deeper into the enamel which can further weaken it. The doctor suggests that people wait at least 30 minutes after a meal to brush.
Finally, the myth that no visible problems equates to no problems at all, Dr. Rick Dawson want to inform people that this might not always be the case because the first signs of tooth decay and cavities are usually missed by the untrained eye, therefore it is necessary that regular visits to the dentist are made to maintain a healthy smile and nip the problems in the bud as soon as they begin.
